The San Diego Film Foundation (SDFF) is a 501c(3) arts education nonprofit working year-round to fulfill our mission to use the power of perspective to foster dialogue, understanding, and action through the experience of film.
What the Foundation Does
San Diego International Film Festival
A six-day celebration of storytelling featuring more than 100 films from around the world, alongside galas, panels, and special events. Set against San Diego’s iconic coastal backdrop, the Festival brings together filmmakers, industry leaders, and audiences for an immersive cultural experience.
Youth Education & Leadership
Film serves as a gateway to critical thinking and empathy. Through curated screenings, tailored curriculum, and guided discussion, students engage with real-world issues—broadening perspectives and developing the skills to become thoughtful, informed leaders.
Social
Impact & Advocacy
The Foundation champions films that address today’s most pressing challenges. Through FOCUS on Impact programs, the Film Insider Series, and Festival programming, stories exploring mental health, homelessness, immigration, LGBTQ+ experiences and Indigenous cultures are elevated to spark meaningful community dialogue.
Advancing Women
in Film
The Foundation is committed to elevating women storytellers. Through intentional programming, panels, and professional development opportunities, it works to help close the gender gap in the film industry and ensure diverse perspectives are not only represented, but celebrated.
