In the Artist’s Words
I wanted to show how littering can take over something beautiful, like a jellyfish.
I chose littering because when I think about it, I can picture beautiful art that tells an important story.
I told my story by using trash to hold on to the jellyfish. I used a reference image of trash and created it with the pencil tool to give it more of a messy look. I outlined the jellyfish with white to give it a soft shine and used different tools and shapes to create the jellyfish, mainly the airbrush to make everything glow and brighten certain areas.
I told my story by using trash to hold onto the jellyfish. The message is clear because it shows trash in the water covering the ocean floor and surrounding the space around the jellyfish. I feel my artwork is successful because it is pretty, especially when you look closer at the jellyfish, and the contrast between the beautiful jellyfish and the trash helps tell the story.
