In the Artist’s Words
I chose the topic of LGBTQ+ bullying because I went through it after coming out as nonbinary, and I’m still going through it today.
I chose the topic of LGBTQ+ bullying problems because I went through it in elementary school after I came out as nonbinary and I’m still going through it today.
I used the app IBIS Paint to create my art because it has so many cool and helpful too, including a square grid brush (I used to create the glitch effect), a pencil brush (I used for line art and texture), and more. I used reference images from Google about LGBTQ bullying to help my art by giving me ideas of how to create it.
I think I clearly showed my meaning by using color, size, and implied meanings. I used color to show my meaning by using sad, dark, colors and some neon to create a sad feeling and contrast. I used size by making the hands larger so they are closer to the observer and pointing at something within the art. And I used Implied meaning by using context clues such as the rainbow flag to show that the focal point is in the LGBTQ community, and the glitch effect and lines scribbled over her face to show she’ shes panicking and losing herself.
I feel like my work is successful because it has a clear meaning, clean lines and art, and overall detail clear.
