San Diego Intl Film Festival Inaugural Industry Insider Series
San Diego Film Foundation Patrons and invited guests enjoy intimate discussion with renowned documentary filmmakers.
The San Diego Film Foundation, producers of the San Diego International Film Festival, welcomed acclaimed documentary director/producer Thomas Morgan, and President/Creative Director of RebelHouse, Trevor Hall for the inaugural Industry Insider Series. Thomas Morgan is best known for Waiting For Mamu – about the life of Pushpa Basnet (2012 CNN Hero of the Year and 2016 CNN Super Hero) and his film partnership with Susan Sarandon of Reframed Pictures – dedicated to producing documentaries on social justice issues.
Moderated by San Diego Int’l Film Festival Executive & Artistic Director, Tonya Mantooth, the discussion was highlighted by film clips of their latest documentary project A Moving Feast followed by Q&A from Foundation Patron Circle Members and invited guests. A Moving Feast is the story of Mariam Shaar a generational refugee, who is working to bring dignity to those living in a refugee camp in Lebanon.
The event was hosted at a private estate in Rancho Santa Fe and took place on December 9, 2016. Guests enjoyed lunch provided by Swell Cafe and Le Medallion Champagne.
The San Diego Film Foundation Industry Insider Series is an up close and personal opportunity to hear from film industry leaders, filmmakers and innovators and is an exclusive benefit for SDiFF Patron Circle members and invited guests. The San Diego Film Foundation is committed to making a difference through film by exploring issues of global impact…to create dialog, to encourage self-reflection, and ultimately to develop empathy. Individuals can take in new perspectives and determine how that information might change their own views and actions within their communities.
