The 2020 Re-Imagined San Diego International Film Festival
The San Diego International Film Festival is beyond proud to present the re-imagined 2020 Festival featuring two new (for us) ways to share with you the outstanding films that have been curated from around the world – the Festival Virtual Village and the Festival Drive-In Movies!
This year, we’ve programmed more than 70 outstanding films including features, documentaries and shorts. This Festival celebrates film’s power to create empathy via new perspectives that emerge from powerful and compelling storytelling from fresh voices and diverse points of view.
Here’s hoping our new Virtual Village will allow you to see even more of these great films from the comfort of your own home! And hopefully, you’ll join us at the Festival Drive-In Movies as well!

Film Premieres
The San Diego Intl Film Festival receives thousands of film submissions from independent filmmakers from around the world. We narrow that field with a detailed film selection process to ensure that the 100+ films selected are the very best independent features, documentaries, and short films in the world. You’ll have the opportunity to enjoy these films before they are released to the general public. After each screening, filmmakers will discuss their creative process, giving you an inside look at how their films were made.
Virtual Film Festival Experience
Re-Imagining the 2020 Film Festival by transforming our theaters into a virtual world. We are offering 4 experiences: 3 virtual theaters and one drive-in theater at UTC, plus you can interact with others film aficionados at the Virtual Filmmaker Cafe and listen to live Q&A's from the filmmakers themselves. Drive-In Movies at Westfield UTC
Drive-In Movies are back big time! And they’re cropping up all around the world as the preferred 2020 version of watching films on the big screen! In partnership with Westfield UTC, San Diego’s ultimate shopping and leisure experience, we’re transforming the parking lot into the perfect spot for Drive-In Movies.
