August VIP Screening Series: Mistress America

With no surprise, the last San Diego Film Festival VIP screening event of the year was a hit—the event was packed! Held upstairs in the ArcLight Cinemas outside patio area, the event felt very exclusive; the area was secluded and everyone was dressed in lovely cocktail attire. There was cheese and crackers to pair with your wine, or pizza to have with your fine beer—the more options the better, right?

As we all moved from the reception to the theaters to be seated for the showing of Mistress America, starring Greta Gerwig and Lola Kirke. Dale Strack, Chairman of the San Diego Film Festival, gave a very heartwarming introduction and some helpful insights about the director of the film (Noah Baumbach) to give a better idea of how great the movie would be. Mistress America is about a lonely college freshman that moves to New York and becomes disappointed in her experience as a university student and her life in the glamorous city; that is until she gets rescued by her soon-to-be stepsister.

After the event, another reception was held, we were able to discuss our thoughts on the movie as well as enjoy some delicious desserts from Lette Macarons and one last drink for the night. I do plan on attending more VIP screenings as I enjoyed this one so much, so I hope to see you at the next one in the upcoming year!

Mistress America is now showing in theaters.

Want to check out more VIP events like this one and get the inside scoop on the festival this year? Don’t forget to purchase your VIP tickets before they are gone.
