We are looking for hundreds of talented, enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers to plan, promote, and produce events and support our guests year-round and during the Festival (Oct 4- 8). These team positions require a commitment of a minimum of 15 hours and two days.
Theater Operation volunteers ensure events run smoothly, by organizing and managing guest flow at venues. Volunteers greet guests, direct them to correct lines and theaters, collect tickets, usher to seats, and collect ballots.
Our tech team does all things that have to do with technology at the festival. Everything from setup box office equipment and wifi at each festival location to projection equipment.
This team is responsible for managing ticket and festival pass sales at venue locations and box offices and providing high quality service for guests. Volunteers greet and help direct patrons attending the festival and are available to answer questions.
The Sponsor Development Team maintains corporate relationships and reaches out to festival sponsors. They assist sponsors with their passes and ticket vouchers. They manage the location and presentation of sponsorship materials at event venues per requests and specifications listed in the contracts.
The Marketing team acts as public and media relations for the festival, working with outside sources to maintain communication with the public. Volunteers participate in creating and distributing press releases and assembling media kits.
The public relations team communicates with the media, runs press check-in, and manages the press at events. On the red carpet, volunteers direct press and talent, ensuring they get to where they need to be.
Social Media is vital to getting our messages out to the public. We want our guests to be up to date on festival news and events. Volunteers on this team help with promotion and communication on various social media platforms, blogs, and forums.
The Event Planning Team is a team of organizers and planners. Volunteers assist the event management director with day-to-day planning for festival parties and special events. During the Festival, this team ensures the success of each party and event by working with venue staff, vendors and our logistics team.
The Film Office team acts as our filmmaker liaisons. They check in filmmakers at events and are there to communicate with filmmakers and answer questions. These volunteers manage the schedules of filmmakers, letting them know where they need to be and when.
Volunteers on this team track and manage films. They assist with creating program content for festival events and researching and soliciting films. Volunteers also assist with panels by coordinating venues, working with panelists, and scheduling toastmasters for films.
This team includes our experts on web video content. Volunteers edit web videos and clips, as well as update YouTube and Vimeo pages. They attend all festival events to shoot B-Roll and interviews and assemble videos.
Our dedicated team of volunteer photographers document the festival with red carpet photos of guests, receptions, Q&As, panels, parties, events, and displays. Their photos are used on our website, in newsletters and emails to our subscribers, and our social media.
Weeks before festival events, these volunteers go out and represent us, spreading the word to local business and the public by canvassing targeted neighborhoods. Volunteers communicate to the public why they should attend the festival and the benefits of purchasing a festival pass. They talk to local businesses about supporting the festival by displaying the festival poster and marketing materials.
The Transportation and Accommodations Team is responsible for the coordination of transportation of guests, filmmakers, and talent to and from events, as well as location and timing of rides. Volunteers organize booking and scheduling of hotel accommodations for guests and talent.
The Logistics Team keeps track of all festival property and materials. Volunteers make sure materials get to the appropriate venues on time, manages inventory and maintains the warehouse. This team manages set-up and tear-down at each venue and event location.
We are looking for uber-responsible adults with time during the day or evening hours. A very special opportunity for the right volunteer to be personal drivers for special guests of the festival. California licensed and insured 25-yr-old and older drivers may apply.
We need two Volunteer HQ for volunteers to sign in/out at, have a place to pick up volunteer t-shirts, grab a quick snack and a kind word, offer information. A busy but very fun team for people who love people!
*Full-time Festival volunteer positions take place during the festival dates. Full-time volunteers commit to a minimum of 32 hours and must be available to work the entire Festival. They will be given a preassigned schedule and must attend pre-Festival training. They commit to signing up on volgistics, receiving, reading, and replying to emails, which are our primary modes of communication.
